Vendome, Jean

Jean Vendome was born in Lyon in 1930 as Ohan Tuhdarian, to Armenian parents. At the age of 13, he apprenticed with his uncle in Paris. He opened his own studio at the age of 18. After the war, he changed his name to Jean Vendome, made jewelry for jewelry houses but also started showing his own creations at fairs. He believed that minerals were sculptures in themselves; they are therefore frequently used in his organically designed jewelry. In 2007, the shop closed its doors. Jean Vendome died in 2017.
