Gijs Bakker (b. 1942) was married to Emmy van Leersum (1930-1984) and in the 1960’s they worked together in their studio in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Later Bakker worked as industrial designer and he was one of the founders of the internationally recognised designers collective Droog Design. Besides Bakker always continued designing jewellery, often using revolutionary new techniques and and materials. Remarkable is the overlap between the designs of jewellery and of objects which gives a whole new perspective to the jewels.
