Iosif Marchak (1854 – 1918) was only 14 years old when he started as jewellery apprentice in Kiev. After passing his exam he opened his own workshop, was very successful and became know as the ‘Cartier of Kiev’. His business expanded and after the revolution the company moved to Paris. The house closed in 1988 but has made many jewels of fine quality and original design.
