Steltman

Steltman Den Haag

Johannes Steltman (1891-1961) is the founder of the eponymous Dutch jeweller. He opens in 1917 ‘N.V. Joaillerie Artistique’ in The Hague and in 1921 a new ‘Amsterdam School’ interior is designed by sculptor Hildo Krop. In 1964 Gerrit Rietveld redesigns the interior. The work of Stelman is in the 1920’s inspired by and can compare with the Art Deco work of the large Parisian jewellers. Famous are the jewels with carved jadeite, diamonds and black enamel and the iconic is the ‘Lotus’-ring.
