Oppenheim, Meret

Meret Oppenheim (1913-1985) is a Swiss-German artist who became famous at the age of 23 with a fur-covered teacup, saucer and spoon. This work and also the artist herself, became icons of the Surrealist movement. Her early succes was also a burden and it took Oppenheim almost two decades to re-enjoy making art. Since then she has been a recognized artist in many fields including jewellery.
