Koch Frankfurt Germany history Marjan Sterk Fine Art JewelleryThe jeweller Koch was founded by Robert Koch (1854–1902). Passionate about fashion and beauty, he opened a jewelry store in Frankfurt am Main in 1879. His younger brother Louis (1862–1930) became his partner. Their keen sense of style, excellent taste, and business acumen made them successful. Between 1898 and 1918, Koch produced no fewer than 704 tiaras and crowns, and 50 to 60 diadems. As a supplier to all the royal courts and high nobility in Europe, the house was regarded as the Cartier of Germany. The house remained in the family but closed its doors in 1986.
