Gautrait

Leopold Gautrait for Leon Gariod Paris jewellery

Not much is known about both Léopold Gautrait and Léon Gariod; there are even some misunderstandings about their first names. But fact is that their collaboration has lead to some extraordinary Art Nouveau jewellery highlights. Gautrait was a specialist in enamelling and chiseling and was employed at the Paris workshop of Gariod in 1897. In the years around 1900 the iconic Art Nouveau jewels were produced. After the decline of this style they made ca 1905 more classical designs inspired by the Belle Epoque comprising details such as garlands and ribbons but Gautrait still used the techniques of enameling and chiseling.
